Gone are the days where you’d be judged for eating pizza for breakfast, in fact I’m pretty sure it’s the future and it’s all thanks to Enzo. Enzo is Manchesters hidden little gem nestled just off of Market Street. So whilst you may not have known it was there before, now you do and i think you all should take a visit!
Now I have to admit, breakfast/brunch is not my favourite meal of the day which is why Enzo is perfect for both people like me and the likes of my friends who will sell their soul for some poached eggs. From Giant Croissants to the Brekkie Calzone there’s a huge choice which will satisfy everyone in your group, or just yourself, I ain’t judging.
I’ve been to Enzo before but this was a particularly special occasion. The lovely Sophie invited myself and some other amazing and inspiring women (Ellie, Vicki & Christine) to eat some good food, drink some mulled wine (more on how amazing that was below) and get warm from a snowy Saturday morning in Manchester.
I am a stickler for good service. The food could be Michelin star quality but if the service is poor, it gets a 1 star from me. The service in Enzo is bar none. Everyone had a warm smile on their face and were so friendly and welcoming, exactly what I want to see when I dine out. Our waitress (who unfortunately I didn’t catch the name of) was so bubbly and accommodating even when I was asking her 10,000 questions about eggs on pizza.
The food is great, like I said earlier brunch isn’t my favourite but this could definitely convince me otherwise. I opted for the mushrooms on toast, simple and tasty. The mushrooms were roasted in thyme and oil as opposed to fried. For those who aren’t too keen on mushrooms this is a dish that can sway you, they’re firm and flavoursome not soggy and bland like most people believe mushrooms to be.
I want to go back and build my own pizza and devour the garlic bread that was tempting us all on Saturday. Even better, they do VEGAN CHEESE! Long story short I’m going vegan in the new year and Enzo is the top of my list of vegan friendly restaurants to try, I can’t bloody wait!
The pièce de résistance was the mulled wine. Enzo blew me away on the things you wouldn’t expect an Italian restaurant to excel in, brunch and mulled wine! It was so sweet and had all the right spices thrown in. It was also my first mulled wine of the year can you believe?? The perfect way to get into the festive spirit.
There’s nothing better than eating amazing food whilst talking to like minded and inspirational people, or eating amazing food after a long morning of shopping, or just eating amazing food. Enzo is the perfect place to do all of the above!
Find Enzo down the side of Primark on 20 Fountain Street, Manchester M2 2AA. They’re now open to 10pm Monday-Saturday hallelujah! Check out their menu here.
